“A Cherokee elder sitting with his grandchildren told them, “In every life there is a terrible fight – a fight between two wolves. One is evil: he is fear, anger, envy, greed, arrogance, self-pity, resentment and deceit. The other is good: he is joy, serenity, humility, peace, generosity, truth, gentleness, and compassion.” A child asked, “Grandfather, which wolf will win?” The elder looked him in the eye. “The one you feed.”  Anonymous

A group of psychiatrists did research trying to find out why some people repeated the same behavior as their parents even though they hated their parents behavior.  Yet other children managed to avoid becoming like their parents.  What they found was an eye-opener.

The children who constantly thought about and/or talked about what their parents did that drove them crazy became exactly like their parents - repeating the same hated behavior.

The children who found someone they admired and thought about and/or talked about what they were doing right became like the hero - they did not repeat the same hated behavior.

Turned out that whatever we keep in the back or front of our minds has a lot to do with how we act and react.  So when Jesus said, "feed my sheep," He was talking about preaching the word of God to the masses.

We eat Spiritual food when we are studding or meditating on God's word.  If Jesus is our hero and He is who we constantly look at, we will become like Him.  He also said that the word washes us clean.  It's like a spiritual bath.

Psa 119:148 My eyes are awake through the night watches, That I may meditate on Your word.

John 21:15-17 So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs." He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Tend My sheep." He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.

John 1:1-4, 14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. ... And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
