My grandfather was James Marion McCrory born 10 May 1846 in Alabama.  He would have been around 15 years old during the Civil War.  It is possible that J M McCrory or James M McCrory is my grandfather.  He lived in Butler County and later in Etowah County (I do not now the dates when he lived where). Fran,

I added the last two columns with info derived from the online information.

The first name I believe is actually Daniel. Etowah Co was after the 1860 census with Ashville as county seat.

Ft Morgan is the land point that guards Mobile Bay and is in Baldwin Co.

The last two names, actually one person, is definitely in a different McCrory family line than any we have worked on so far.

I feel sure the Greene Co enlistments were also those persons home area.

The second James M. McCrory's widow was living in St Clair when she petitioned for pension. However, it does not indicate whether it is the town of St Clair in Lowndes Co or in St Clair Co which is next to Blount Co in the north east area of the state. Bill
