Notes for WILLIAM ISAAC JAMES:
WILL OF ISAAC JAMES
In the name of God Amen I Isaac James of the County of Hampshire in the state of Virginia being weak in body but of sound mind and disposing memory for which I thank God and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I give and bequeath the same in manner following that is to say 1st I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizebeth James all my estate both real and personal of what nature or kind soever it may be for and during the term of her natural life and after her decease if there be left any of said property after raising my children by her the said Elizebeth and supporting her through her life, (as it is my wish and desire that my said wife Elizebeth keep all of my property and dispose of it in any manner that she may see proper for her own use and benefit in order to enable my said wife Elizebeth James to raise and educate my younger children under the age of twenty one years) and after my wifes decease if there be any of said property left as above stated, I give and bequeath the same in the following manner
2ndly I give to my son JOHN JAMES One Dollar
3rdly I give to my daughter SARAH HARRIS One Dollar
4thly I give to my daughter MARTHA ATHEY One Dollar
5thly I give to my daughter JAMIMA BOSLEY One Dollar
6thly I give to my daughter MARY ANDERSON One Dollar
7thly I give to my son GEORGE C JAMES One Dollar
8thly All the rest of my estate that may so remain I give and bequeath to be equally divided between my sons
WILLIAM C JAMES,
ISAAC N JAMES,
JOHN CULP JAMES, and
JAMES SANSUM JAMES and
my daughter ELIZEBETH ANN JAMES, all of which said bequest I give to my said children as above stated forever and Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my said
wife ELIZEBETH JAMES executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other or former wills by me heretofore made In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 22nd day of November 1838
